FAQ

Quick answers. The Guide has the full story.

Basics

Is LinkListo free?

Yes. LinkListo is free on the Mac App Store. There are no ads and nothing to buy inside the app.

What does it run on?

Any Mac running macOS 26 or later, Apple silicon or Intel.

Why is there no Dock icon or window?

LinkListo is a menu bar app by design. It stays out of your Dock and your app switcher, and it is always one click away no matter what you are working in.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the popover?

No. macOS does not let a menu bar app open itself with a hotkey, so the first click has to be on the menu bar icon. After that, everything works from the keyboard. The shortcuts are in the Guide.

Links and browsers

How do I open a link in a specific browser?

Pick a browser for the link when you add or edit it. From then on the link always opens there. More in the Guide.

Why doesn't a browser I use appear?

LinkListo lists the browsers it finds installed on your Mac. Make sure the browser is in your Applications folder, then open the editor again.

Can I open a link in a different browser just this once?

Yes. Right-click the link and choose Open in… The link keeps its usual browser for next time.

Can I open several links at once?

Yes. Give them the same tag, then right-click the tag pill and choose Open all. Every link launches in its own assigned browser.

Your data

What data does LinkListo keep?

Only the links you add. A link is a title, a URL, a browser choice, and a tag, saved in a small file on your Mac. There are no accounts, and nothing is uploaded to a server. The privacy policy has the full picture.

How do I back up my links or move them to another Mac?

Open Settings, then Data. Export Backup saves all your links and tags to a JSON file. Import Backup restores it, on this Mac or another one.

Does LinkListo connect to the internet?

Only to fetch titles and site icons for the links you add. If a site provides no icon, the Enhanced Favicons setting asks Google for one, and you can turn that off in Settings. Your links and data never leave your Mac.

Troubleshooting

A site's icon looks wrong or outdated

Right-click the link and choose Refresh Icon. LinkListo throws away the old icon and fetches a fresh one.

I can't drag links to reorder them

Reordering works on the full list. Clear the search box and any active tag filter, then drag.

How do I quit the app?

Right-click the LinkListo icon in the menu bar and choose Quit.
