Finding a document
Press ⌘K and type. Results appear as you type, newest first, from your whole vault.
What search reads
The search bar has two settings, and they answer two questions. What to read, and where to look.
Details or Full Text is the what. Details, the everyday setting, matches a document's own information: its title and your notes. Full Text goes further and reads every word on every page. Looking for the water bill? Details finds it. Looking for every document that mentions a certain account number? Full Text finds those.
All Documents or This Folder is the where. Search everything, or only the folder or tag you're standing in.
Finding words in the document you're reading
Search finds the right document. Find works inside it. Press ⌘F while reading and a small find bar appears over the pages. Type a word and every match in that document is highlighted, with arrows to step from one to the next. And if no document is open, ⌘F simply takes you to search.
Jumping by year
The year scrubber stays out of the way until you ask for it. Move the pointer to the document list's right edge and it appears. One bar per year, newest at the top, each bar sized by how much that year holds. Click a year and the list jumps straight to it. It matters more every year. A decade of paper stops being a scroll and becomes a click.
Recent Imports
The sidebar's Recent Imports folder collects what you've brought in lately, most recent arrival first. It shows the last 30 days unless you change the window in Settings › Browsing. It's the answer to "where did that thing I just imported go?"
