Settings and maintenance

Settings

Settings is in the DocuCasa menu, or press ⌘ comma. Four tabs:

General. Empty Trash automatically: when it's on, documents that have been in the Trash more than 30 days are deleted permanently when the vault opens. It's off unless you turn it on, and off means the Trash only empties when you empty it. Below that, automatic update checking and a button to check right now. Checking fetches one small version file from rojiapps.com, the only network request DocuCasa ever makes. Nothing about you or your documents is sent.

Appearance. The theme: Light, Dark, or Match System. It applies everywhere, including the lock screen.

Browsing. How new searches start (All Documents or the folder you're in, Details or Full Text), how many days the Recent Imports folder shows, and which folder opens first when you unlock.

Security. How long the vault waits before locking itself (fifteen minutes unless you change it), and Touch ID unlocking for this vault.

Maintenance

File › Maintenance… opens the caretaker's tools. Five of them, each explaining itself before it runs:

Scan for Changes checks that the files in the vault match DocuCasa's records, and spots anything added, removed, or changed outside the app.

Integrity Check verifies every document, including trashed ones, is still stored exactly as it was saved.

Re-extract Text reads the text of documents that aren't searchable yet, so their contents show up in search.

Fill In Page Counts counts the pages of documents whose page count is unknown, reading each one from its file.

Export Document List saves a spreadsheet of every document. Folder, date, amount, tags, notes, and its verification fingerprint.
